2021 REFLECTIONS OF A DOULA

This year was a very busy year as a doula for me.

From June through to December there have been 7 births. 3 home births, 1 of which was a vaginal breech birth after 2 previous c-section, 2 elected c-sections, 1 assisted birth and another waiting in the wings for a January 2022 birth.

I feel stretched, challenged, elated and grateful to be of service, being their for these women and their partners. Some of whom, felt marginalised and unheard from their trust. But was able to get their voice heard and their wishes met, due to our work through the pregnancy, labour and birth.

I end 2021, grateful for this opportunity. Now a little rested after COVID/Omnicron over the Christmas period. Wishing you all, clients and non-clients alike, a wonderful 2022 with your new family.

Peace, good healthy and galleons of oxytocin love.

Bless your little one and bless you in your journey as new parents.

This is a picture of one of my clients of 20 years ago, meeting her son for the very first time. We met up in lock down and had a lovely lunch together.
